Re: "Unpacked" Video Series
For those who are following along, we're starting to cover bedrolls now! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PogjSJGs6g&t=116s Excellent! I've been waiting on this one as I still have Elleth's Icelandic wool blanket that needs to be configured. Couple of questions - 1.) What's the reasoning on the...

Re: Stormbringer knife
Very nice! You'll have to put it through its paces and give a review when it gets in! As far as the inscription goes, it's a little hard to make out so I went on a bit of a hunt. According to this site, (if it's been properly reproduced on the the reproduction) it should read - Gûd daedheloth 'Foe o...

Re: Dwarven Coat
They are known by many names. Kaftan if it's from further east, warrior coat if it's from the earlier Migration Period, klappenrock if it's the one from Haithabu...
Here's a rather famous pressblech depicting the warrior coat.

Re: Mittens
So I don’t really have any recommendations for makers but here’s an article from David Stříbrný at Projekt Forlǫg cataloging Early Medieval mitten finds. You might find it useful to see the broad and varied styles throughout history!

Re: Elvish knives of the Ainu
I'd of course skip any of the carving presented if making a version for an elven impression. Don't want to go repurposing someone else's religious or spiritual iconography by mistake! A very good point. If we did a full one-to-one copy, I would have to do much research and consultation before I wou...

Re: 11th-12th century clay smoking pipe?
Yes actually. I saw that same photo and went on a excited research dive late last year. Let me see if I can find my sources again. Unfortunately, the dating from the ad is off and the pipes are in fact from a later period, post-Columbian Exchange. I'll look for further info tonight.

Re: dwarf comic
I thought the idea of step 1 is that male and female Dwarves look the same. But I guess it works as male/male or female/male. That was my understanding as well, but as you say I guess it works either way. Haha, I was merely making a joke. That was my first impression as well but I wanted to crack w...

Re: Future of the Wiki
EDIT: You're going to have to excuse me if I seem a bit rambly and unfocused. Feeling a bit under the weather which is leaving my brain a little fuzzy. First question, I use the Cultural Material Database fairly frequently. Less so now that I have access to some searchable PDFs courtesy of Udwin but...

Re: What's everyone working on?
Edit - Cimrandir, that is really clean leatherwork! I'm jealous :) Oh, I can in no-way take credit for anything but the crazy idea for what I've been posting. I've taken a page from Eofor's book and commissioned a far more talented artist than I for something really fun. All photos are from the art...

Re: Wrap Pants
Nah, not for me or "my" Middle-earth. As Manv said, far too Ren-fairey and as Eofor said, way too much material waste for a presumably hardscrabble culture like the Dúnedain. Pass.
