Re: Salt box
I have made several cups in this way. One must take care to not have the plug too tight or it can cause it to split as it dries. The distance that it shrinks is very small so it is not necessary to plug both sides of a cup to maintain evenness. I can make a shot glass sized cup in just a few minutes...
Re: Salt box
Has a diameter of 1.6 inches. Length of 2 inches. Actual wall thickness of <0.25 inches Takes only a couple days to dry at this thickness.

Re: Wool cap and fingerless gloves.
Yes. They are made from a very soft wool.
They are actually a dark grey. The pictures are of the same gloves. The sunlight just changed the color in the picture.

Re: Handmade Leather Quiver and Hickory Bow
All hand stitched. No wire at the top; just tightly folded and stitched. The thickness of the leather makes it round. The back seam was sewn by punching holes and threading a leather lace through it. The pinched bottom has an extra strip of leather in the middleso the arrows rest on the leather rath...

Re: Leather Belt Puch
No stain or dye. The color just comes from the neatsfoot oil.

Bearded Axe and Homemade Sheath
My bearded axe from Ragweed Forge has needed a sheath for a long time. I finally got around to making one. The rivets are actually 22 caliber bullet casings. http://i1076.photobucket.com/albums/w441/erutelperion/Kit/IMAG0160.jpg http://i1076.photobucket.com/albums/w441/erutelperion/Kit/IMAG0159.jpg

Leather Belt Puch
I modeled this after an antique leather purse I had. I took almost a full day of work to craft it, but I am pleased. I use it mostly to hold my small tools and fire kit. http://i1076.photobucket.com/albums/w441/erutelperion/Kit/IMAG0158.jpg http://i1076.photobucket.com/albums/w441/erutelperion/Kit/I...

Handmade Leather Quiver and Hickory Bow
These projects are a big reason I haven't posted in a while. They can be very time consuming. The quiver is made from thick cowhide without using a pattern. The hickory bow was made with only hand tools, primarily with a drawknife. It is still a little too high poundage but it works nicely. I used T...

Wool cap and fingerless gloves.
I made these gloves and cap out of 100% virgin wool yarn using a viking age process called Nalebinding. These are actually my first items made using the technique. It wasn't really difficult. I just used several youtube videos for instruction. I found a guy named MVsBushcraft to have the best basic ...

I recently made one similar to this. I filled mine with marbles to shape it. They worked well enough.
