Re: A Rainy Night at the Pony
Stumbled back in here from a google search for a representation of the Rayed Brooch and ended up reading this whole thing ten years later!
Wonderful Story! Thanks for sharing it Mirimaran!

The fact this is reported to be costing a half a billion dollars for the 1st season... as ever, I hope for the best and expect the worst as I did with the movies.

Re: Dunedain Marriage Prospects
As far as men are concerned, there were few options outside the few Dunedain of Numenorian blood. You had the hillmen of Rhuadur, who were likely intermingled some with the Dunedain of Rhuadur before they took hold of the lands and swore fealty to Carn Dum. It was only a few hundred years before the...

Re: Dunedain vs Ranger
Alas, I have been away too long in the wilds and have miss much good discussion. I again found this site after going and saving nookmarks from an old laptop. I was in a similar discussion on another Tolkien site about the sustainability of the Dunedain of the North. That discussion was focused on p...

Re: Hail Rangers!
Hail and Mae Govannen fellow Rangers! My name is Rory, here under my persona Ruinar Hrafnakveðja. Ruinar is the Sindarin translation of my name and Hrafnakveðja is Old Norse for Raven Caller, though I go by many names. I'm a young Ranger hailing from Toronto, Canada. I'm a member of a Medieval/To...

A couple places I've been to that that seemed 'Middle Earthy' to me.. Fox & Hounds The Brick Tavern The Fox & Hounds George's Bar is a well done 'English Pub' and has the atmosphere. The Brick in Roslyn Washington is close to the national forest area up the Cle Elum River where many an outin...

Re: King Elessar's Court
Well, we know he "rode north to an encampment" in the 15th year of the Fourth Age: http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Timeline/Fourth_Age That certainly implies he held court in Minas Tirith prior to that point. Given that upon Aragorn's death, the place that Arwen leaves is Minas Tirith: The...

Re: Amazon Series
Brethren, I do indeed remember many decades ago the grouchy talk surrounding announcements that someone named Peter Jackson was filming the legend. That didn't turn out too badly did it now? Yeah, it did actually. It totally ignored Arnor, Arthedain, and the Dunedain Rangers , relegating Aragorn to...

Re: Men of Gondor : "Always less than hope looked for..."
Hello all. It has been quite some time since I frequented your company. I hope you are all well and in good spirits. I have been reading Return of the King and I was struck by this passage describing the Men of Gondor who rode into Minas Tirith shortly before the siege. 'Forlong! Forlong!' Pippin h...

Re: Sssooo... Dungeons and Dragons?
Ah yes..... memories of the early 80's. Had the Red box, and both the early and late blue box editions, and some metal miniature figurines we painted.
I ended up with all the stuff when game night sputtered out in 1985, and I think it all is still in the attic at the folks, now my brother's, house.
