Re: I'm alive!

Excellent, we can share what we find and get better at this metalsmithing thing. I am more of a metalsmith that likes bladesmithing and is training as a blacksmith, but I have most of my training in jewlery and precious metal fab. And I think.... Siani(?) is a bladesmith? Can't remember, but someone...

Re: Extra resources

I love paintball. Depending on the Belegarth group you find (varries by geo-location) it can get pretty rough, if that is any motivation to go get some training. Just remember that you'll have to do some work with actual weapons on the side and consider belegarth your reaction and mechanics/speed tr...

Re: Food Prep and Cooking

Spice Soup You're my hero. I used to scan Terry's page all the time but stopped, and I never found that recipe... awesome. Richard + Strider is the sort of ranger I want to be. I've got the herbalism and plant lore well on its way... now just to work on the wraith killing techniques and the additiv...

Re: Question on horse tack

Very much agreed. Sent pictures of what you come up with and I will probably make some as well. The big key is finding a way to make it form to the saddle shape and horse's back while still allowing proper weight spread on a human shoulder, but of course you know that. Another idea I had was have le...

Re: Question on horse tack

Sorry I suck at responding on time, things are crazy over here! The one with the arrows: The green arrow clips attach to little loops on the saddle directly on the sides, about where your back lines up, if not a tad further back on the saddle. The red arrows are tie-holes, because a lot of saddles h...

Re: Mounted Archery Demo at SCA event

Thank you! I'm really excited actually, I look a lot better out there then I thought, and apparently a few people thought I'd been riding for a long time. Guess learning from one of the best and getting hounded a lot really pays off;) PS - ranger get together + mounted and ground archery seminar/les...

Re: Ranger vs Modern

Natural fabrics are just too awesome. On that note: fabric-store.com has a huge selection of wool and linen, and if you read the instructions for getting swatches they will actually send you FREE fabric samples. They're about 1x2 inches, but they come glued to a little card with the fabric type labe...

Re: Food Prep and Cooking

At the SCA event this weekend I was in charge of dinner one night for the household I camp with. I did a chicken bbq of sorts. The original idea was a spit roast but the spit failed because I lost a piece and was busy with the demo and didn't start on time (takes like 3 hours) so we sectioned the ch...

Re: Mounted Archery Demo at SCA event

Hmm, well the youtube one should be working eventually... the video is on Katie's account so I can't alter its viewability until she gets home.

We'll I embeded the video in my site, so it should be here: http://winterwolfforge.com/ at the main page, or click blog.

Mounted Archery Demo at SCA event

Hey! We just did our first official mounted archery demo at an SCA event, which is a breakthrough considering how strict the SCA is with archery. That's me in the white shirt on the plump gray horse, Katie on the white arab, and Holm on the darker gray. Any comments/thoughts/concerns/hopes/dreams? h...

Re: Taking Lindsey's Thread a little farther

I daydream this stuff all the time! Starting here in eugene oregon under current circumstances, Katie and I would be packing our good traveling/camping clothes and garb. all the linens, wools, cottons, and some of the lighter stuff that is more waterproof. Collect our bows/arrows, her sword (mine is...

Extra resources

Hey everyone. As you all probably know I am a member of the Belegarth medieval combat society. BMCS is foam fighting (boffers for you scadians) at its best. Football became how it is after they went through many heavier, rougher versions of balls and rules. Basketball started with a wooden wine barr...
