Re: Greetings

I'm 28 years old. I'm from Southern California. I work at a sword/knife shop. I do custom leatherwork through my shop (sheaths, armor, belts etc.) I'm a member of the Bankeside School of Defense where I study Longsword, Rapier, Dagger, Broadsword, and quarter staff fighting. I used to bow hunt (tho...

Re: Decent stainless hauberk for less than $1,000

Oddly enough I started to buy from Ringmesh but went with GDFB instead. After re-tailoring the sleeves and body GDFB is a good product but being limited on time and factoring humidity, horse sweat etc. I cant keep up with the rust. I need a good hauberk that allows me to train with a minimum of upke...

Re: steel source

Sure, I'll post some pics once its finished, right now its "as forged" I need to drawfile and polish the head and get it hafted. Speaking of pics, i have to tell you, I'm loving the projects you are posting lately. That sword definitely got my attention, if you ever decide to let that go I...

Re: steel source

5160 is hard to beat and along with my beloved simple alloys very forgiving to work with. I just finished forging a bearded axe last night with an admiral 5160 bit welded to a wrought head my first attempt at a composite axe.

Re: steel source

Admiral is a well reputed supplier but I can tell you now you better call them ...e-mailing them is a waste of time. Another supplier I buy blade steels from almost exclusively is New Jersey Steel Baron, Aldo Bruno. I've been using this steel for the last year as I have almost 14' of 1075 .

Re: The Battle for London

I'm not certain whether these rants are aimed at me or Elegost. If it's me, okay, I'm a big boy and I can take it. I've been working poor my entire life, and I've never taken a dime from the government that was any more than a refund of my own money paid in taxes. If they are aimed at Elegost, I ha...

Re: The Battle for London

I fear I dont sympathize with the "under educated and very poor" argument. i have never drove a new vehicle, I've never lived in a house with air conditioning or central heating in the summer we open windows in the winter we heat with a wood stove. I have dial -up internet, wear clothes to...

Re: The Battle for London

Yes, it's cus of people being stupid with weapons that caused the silly laws. Seems like some people are being more stupid even with the laws in place only now they have unarmed victims. Criminals are always a scapegoat for stripping folk of liberties but the criminal element will always have acces...

Re: The Battle for London

I hope the situation improves. But its high time politicians in Britain got their heads out of their asses and lifted those draconian weapons laws. The citizenry have a right to have the means to defend their lives and property. I live in a decent settlement peopled by folk of British descent where ...

Re: What's your preffered method of fighting for Rangers?

My skill sets revolve around the Leictanauer tradition which includes the long sword, grappling and percussion, spear, messer and dagger as well as the pollaxe. Given my interest in and study of this tradition I would label myself not so much of a ranger as a heavy cavalryman, who can also fill a ro...

Well, today was the deadline, it wont be as long as it has been till we know whether or not we've been picked. My very best to my brother in the sword and horse, Odigan. It will be an honor and a pleasure to meet you in the lists or to cheer you from home as fate allows.

Re: Sword Belt/Scabbard Rigs

I do not disdain them; they simply do not work for me. I think many of them are quite lovely and they are without doubt very effective weapons; history is clear on that. All I have said is that they are not for me personally. I could not care less if anyone else wishes to use them; more power to 'e...

Re: Sword Belt/Scabbard Rigs

. Since my sword is not the hand and a half many of you so delight in.I could in fact hang it on the right. You aint gonna let the hand and a half thing go are you? :P While I fundamentally disagree with your disdain of longswords. I do like the double draw Idea....alot. But more for a convenient '...
