Stump shooting is fun, and good practice for odd angles and unmeasured distances.
But take arrows you don't mind losing. Use blunt points. Really.

Re: Woodland Cordial: Herbalism Experiment 1.0
I will let you know. I'll start the first stage soon. Not sure when yet. Kind of depending on the weather. Tomorrow, I combine the ingredients on that beverage version. I used that same recipe, complete with the orange, lemon and citrus. But I've also had some nettle seed steeping in the vodka for a...

Re: Stage combat training.
Delongis is great. Awesome stage combatant, and an entertaining actor. He had a couple of episodes in Highlander. He's also involved in the Martinez school of Destreza, the Spanish rapier and dagger system. I do have his video. That being said, stage combat is wrong for learning actual combative tec...

Re: Woodland Cordial: Herbalism Experiment 1.0
And, by way of another version, I'll be starting a batch of mead, with elder flowers added, soon. This will be nothing like the cordial, but should be interesting with regard to the taste. I got the idea from looking at that last recipe, which comes across as more of a beverage than a healing or res...

That's great. We have a good club here, as well, with a couple of good 3D trails. I was just out yesterday. Hopefully, I can get out tomorrow...

Thanks, Elleth,
I'll give that a try. Between your experiment and Harper's suggestions, there are a lot of options here. Ah, well, Amazon, here I come!

Re: Woodland Cordial: Herbalism Experiment 1.0
Elleth, this is awesome. You've inspired me to do a little experimentation on my own. I had great results with on lembas experiment, so this should be fun, as well. I do have one question, though. Where did you get nettle seed? Going with the brandy was a good idea, and i would recommend that over d...

Re: Whats your program for ranger fitness?
Hey, Kortoso, I have done power cleans, and I do enjoy them. Yes, a very good explosive exercise, and one that has had benefits. Our main issue here has been one of limited time and energy, and where to focus. We limit our lifting to twice a week. It does take time to recover, especially as you get ...

Re: Whats your program for ranger fitness?
Interesting. High intensity interval training. Good for an efficient workout. Really gets the metabolism going in a short period, and the boost lasts for a while. Not the training needed for something like long distance endurance, but excellent for general fitness. So, tonight was upper body, focus ...

Re: Archery Practices and Fun-Shoots
My favorite activities were with the SCA. Specifically, an event called Will's Revenge, which was archery focused. Some awesome roving ranges (or 3D shoots, if you wish). My personal favorite was the "Monty Python/Holy Grail" shoot. Knights of Ni (timed, 5 targets, no limit on arrows), Fre...

Re: "Small" New Project, and some thoughts
Nice work. I thought I recognized that shape blade and handle. Yes, one of the two companion blades for a kukri. That one is called the cardo (if my age fuddled brain remembers correctly).
The other one is the chukmuk.

Re: Archer's Paradox
Nicely said, Greg. I never really learned this "sights" thing. Years ago, when I still used to do SCA, one of my favorite events was called "Will's Revenge". If you picture someone saying "Fire at Will", you get the idea. Lost more arrows... They had a lot of roving ran...

Re: Dunedain Lembas Bread Experiment
I see that it's been just over a year since the OP put out the first recipe, from wastedlandsfantasy. So I tried it tonight, pretty much as described, except with walnuts instead of almonds. Couldn't find the almonds. Pretty happy with the result, but not sure how long they'll keep. Frankly, I don't...
