Re: A New Direction

I have always been partial to the Ithilien Rangers myself, even before seeing the movies. The cloak looks great!

Khyber knife

I eventually plan on having a Hobbit impression and a Woodman impression. For my Woodman impression I will be going with a spear, axe and a small square shield which I have posted awhile back. I have a large khyber knife that I got from Kult of Athena and though it may be a good weapon for a Woodman...

a couple of recently finised projects

I am slowly working on my Woodman impression which will be heavily influenced by Roman and Celtic gear and include much of my gear from that hobby. http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/qq324/mboyce_photos/SANY5269_zpsbgx1itlx.jpg First is my belt, it is styled after a celtic toggle belt. On the belt I...

You may want to knock the grip off and make a more period one, but the tang is solid and the pattern is pretty.

Re: Help With My First-Ever Ranger Trek! (believe it or not)

I second what Udwin says about acclimation. Before cold CW campaign events I used to try to open a window in the bedroom. If my wife said no, then I slept without any blankets on me. It was funny because after sleeping out for 2 or 3 nights in the cold at the event, I would get home and just sweat i...

Re: Help With My First-Ever Ranger Trek! (believe it or not)

Practice sleeping outside on the ground in your yard,,,really. Like Udwin said, try to make yourself a bed put of leaves, pine boughs, etc. Also if you want to try the hammock thing, make sure you have the set up down pat before you go. It's not pleasant realizing that your sleep system is totally i...

Ranger huts

Some friends and I went on a hike yesterday to do some scouting for primitive hunt in October. We hike two miles into the Ouachita trail to check out this shelter and water availability. The Ouachita trail starts in Oklahoma and goes for 233 miles into Arkansas through the Ouachita mountains, ending...

Re: Life Update

Great, I'll mark it on the calendar. I'm actually going out to explore part of the Ouachita trail this weekend with my dad and a couple of friends. There is a great hiking group out of Russellville that does some really nice outings too. I'll pm you with my phone number. If you don't have time to ge...

Re: Life Update

I think that you will really like Arkansas, there are so many places to explore in the Ozarks and Ouachita. Plus there's the Roman site. What town are you looking to move to, or near?
