Re: Elven Ranger Clothing Concept
I do like the collar of the shirt and the robe, though the crossed over overtunic/waistcoat does read a bit too eastern to my eye also. Though I love the sash and neckline. Hrm.. not sure, there. What materials are you thinking? I do love raw silk generally, especially for warmer weather. And I thi...

Re: Elladan and Elrohir: Rangers?
Again, speaking for myself of course but I'm far too broken down to portray an ethereal ageless being. I suspect that's part of the problem. Yeah, liked elves more when I was younger. But being built like a large dwarf or a small troll, even at my trimmest, means that the whole effortless ethereal ...

Yeah, it's backwards compatible, so more of a 5.5 edition.

Re: Elven Ranger Clothing Concept
Thanks for posting this, awesome :P and it's cool to see a more practical looking version of elven clothing I used to trek around the Pacific NW in the USA, and loose trousers were never an issue, but you make a salient point. it depends, the ones in your drawing look like they'd be fine, mainly be...

Re: Elven Ranger Clothing Concept
I think the tunic needs to be longer, like long enough to go un-trousered (or "pantsless" if you want it in American ) in summer. But I like the neckline a lot. I would also go with a closer fitting trouser, you want to look tall and graceful..... And big baggy pants over a slim calf say ...

Re: Elven Ranger Clothing Concept
Taken under advisement! I don't actually specify materials as I'm undecided. The part of the world I currently reside in has some sweltering summers so looser trousers are usually a safer bet. I used to trek around the Pacific NW in the USA, and loose trousers were never an issue, but you make a sal...

Elven Ranger Clothing Concept
Over in General Discussion, Iodo mentioned in Elladan and Elrohir: Rangers? that "Some art would be cool to see" regarding my elven ranger impression. So, I finally took the time to bother the spouse into doing something up for me. Keep in mind, this is them basing the art on what I descri...

Re: Elladan and Elrohir: Rangers?
For various reasons I'm not keen on portrayals of named characters True, but it has been done (Manveruon and his incredible screen accurate Strider impression) I just think that it might be fun to consider what their kit might look like, as they serve in a similar manner and function in the story a...

Re: Dúnedain Sword Designs
Even before the Bristol I had a love for that type of fishtail pommel, even though it's a later period shape. I always get hung up on the bit about Boromir's sword being the same type as Anduril, just "of lesser lineage." Since Boromir is noted as carrying a shield, it stands to reason tha...

Very cool! The concept reminds me of the Ádám Bodorics Thrust and Cut Messer on Kult of Athena.

I like how your take has a pommel cap. I can't tell from the sketch, are you including a negal?

Re: Minyacálë - Numenorean Eket (Process Thread)
Exciting project! For what it's worth, Tolkien tells us what the length of an Eket should be: "28 : This was of a kind called eket: a short stabbing sword with a broad blade, pointed and two-edged, from a foot to one and a half feet long." -Unfinished Tales: The Disaster of the Gladden Fi...
