made an axe with you guys in mind
So, as you may have guessed, I dont get around the forums much of late. But that doesnt mean I dont think of you folks while down at the forge. I made this one for two reasons; first being it was fun. Second, although this is fantasy, there are historical pieces that are close and it was a good stud...

Re: Story Competition story: Arlyssens Adventure
I just thought of something; i could upload all the pics to a photobucket account and repost your story in a manner where the pics show up in the thread. Wouldnt take very long.
Nice story, enjoyed it alot.

Re: Axes
Many thanks Eric. That anvil is pretty cheap, I need to get a new one; I'd like to find one about 150# or so. Don't really need anything bigger. And that axe, believe it or not, was forged using bridgeford charcoal, lol. I was so eager to start that I bought several bags at the store and went to it....

Re: Made a banjo
Keepong tension on the head is the only drawback to this design. This is an Appalachian design from the foxfire book series. It really can only be re tightened by wetting the leather and holding it over heat.
As for the pickup, I am planning the electrfy this when I get all the parts.

Thanks for the kind words all.
LMAO, it took me a while to catch the typo. Actaully Falls pointed it out on another forum. Is that a bad Freudian slip?

Re: Made a banjo
Well, that's awesome. Have you made many other musical instruments before this one? Not really; I've made a few Cherokee flutes and reed flutes but as far as a stringed instrument, this is only my second. The first banjo I did was really a prototype. Here's a pic for comparison; http://i700.photobu...

Made a banjo
I thought about putting this in the craft/skills section, but I thought that was aimed more toward forest craft. If this isn't the right place, feel free to move it. So, I'm the kinda person that when life gets to be a pain, I find therapy in building something. Lifes been a b!t@# lately, so I've be...

Re: Anyone ever order from here?
I have not ordered from this fella, but he is a member of SBG (newly registered) and seems on the up and up. His site can be a bit misleading though; some of the axes labeled handmade are actually Hanwei pieces. Probably an oversight on his part, but still...

Dane axe combo
I'm listing these two for $225 shipped in the CONUS in the hopes they sell fast due to unexpected bills.. The Dane is made with a high carbon head and oak handle. I'm not thrilled with using oak, but it was all I had at the time. Handaxe is made from A36 steel with a hickory handle. Thanks for looki...

Re: Howdy all
Thanks for the compliments on my videos Scott, much appreciated. A few folks have asked me to do a few more videos, I just haven't had the time lately. As for the handle length, nah, it'll be fine. One of the things I don't like about C.S. axes is those set screws. They can be hard on handles, dig g...

Re: Howdy all
Nah, I don't have a website. Too much maintenence and I prefer word of mouth. The last time I went the Highland games was a few years ago, quit going because it was too expensive. The last time I did go, I took first in the axe throwing, so I left on a high note, lol.

Thanks all for the warm welcome Hi Avery! Welcome to the group! I am sure you'll like it here. Now, I am wondering how come I've never met you, considering the fact that I live in Harmony as well lol. A very small world indeed! Ken Rankin I think we may have crossed paths before, if I remember corre...
