Axe throwing video thread poll

Hello all, I intend to make a little more effort to be a part of the boards here, you all seem like a great group and I like being on a laid back forum with like minded people. As such, I did a series of axe throwing videos awhile back for the folks on the old S.B.G. forum. They basically teach the ...

Re: New Axe/ Warhammer idea

I don't know about not heat treating it, Along with the torch heat, you're going to have the heat off the grinder as well. It's kind af a catch 22, you can grind real slow and constantly cool the piece, which takes up a lot more time, or grind away like a mad dwarf but have to heat treat them at the...

Re: New Axe/ Warhammer idea

I really got to keep up a little on this thread, lol. Seems I've missed quite a bit. The cut job on is fantastic, it looks like you really wont have a lot of grinding to contend with. Do you plan on re-heat treating the heads after you get them cleaned and polished? I'm interested in seeing the fini...

Re: Big axe project

Oddly enough, I have pictures with a measuring tape in the frame as well. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww1/absilits/Mikes%20Dane%20Axe/2012-07-25173506.jpg http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww1/absilits/Mikes%20Dane%20Axe/2012-07-25173448.jpg In the first pic, the tape is past the tip of the ...

Big axe project

Some of you may have seen the teaser pic I posted of this in another thread, but I thought I wouldn't derail that one and start a new thread. I started this one for a custom order but the axe went off specs and so I'm back to the drawing board for the customers axe. But, in the mean time, I have to ...

Re: made an axe with you guys in mind

Very sweet, If it's not going to anyone, how about a video of it in use ? I think Sean will have some video of me cutting bottles at the meetup with it. Thaks again, all, the compliments are much appreciated. I've got another in the works that's bigger. Need to finish the polish on it and do the he...

Hey Pete, are you going to put this on again? I was too late joining for this one but have some ideas for a story.

Re: Made myself a camp axe

Thanks for the compliments fellas. I've done axes for other folks for a while now, so it's nice to do one for myself. I do a lot of camping and such so I wanted something that above all is functional. I believe that beauty stems from function... :P All right! You know the drill! We want stats. It is...

Re: So who believes in the 2012 theories?

I figure I oughta go ahead and say this; Julius Ceaser created the leap year in 45 bc. Since then there have been 514.25 leap years. The Mayan calender does not account for leap years.

December 21, 2012, according to the Mayan way of thinking, happened last year.

Re: New Axe/ Warhammer idea

Actually you are right about annealing before I begin work. It's really an unnecessary step. The drift I have is the one that Blacksmith's Depot sells as a tomahawk drift. Not sure if that is the exact shape I really want, but it's what I have to work with. You know, I been thinking on something; I...

Re: New Axe/ Warhammer idea

I would be interested in seeing the outcomes of both projects myself. Hey Eric, you know there is no real reason to anneal it before you start working; once its hot and will require multiple heats while hammering, it wont hurt it. Once I saw the pic of the stock I drooled a little. If I had that pie...
