Re: Announcing a new axe line
Howdy fellas, got a bit of bad news. I have to postpone the new line indefinitely; had some problems with the steel supplier which I was willing to work with. But the family recently suffered a loss that will need attention. If/when I'm back under way you folks will be the first to know!

Re: Announcing a new axe line
Cool, thanks! Just out of curiosity what are the other styles you plan on offering? I'm finalizing the design for a large Dane and almost done with the prototype for a Francisca. Also, once I get the process down to as efficient as possible, I may be able to drop the prices a little more. The cool ...

Re: Announcing a new axe line
Thanks fellas. @Ringulf - I'm doing a 24"-26" haft on them so they can be used for throwing as well as a single hander. I've sent a prototype of this model out for review, I'll post a link when it's up.

Announcing a new axe line
Howdy all, been awhile since I've been on the boards. Far too many irons in the fire, quite literally. Which brings me to my point. One of the reasons I haven't been around is that I've been working on a new axe line. One that I can do with relatively quick turnaround. At the moment I'm only going t...

Re: Here is a fun little project!
@ Ringulf - I will do my best to accept this challenge. Of course, as we all know, my spare time is pretty limited but I will attempt to finish by August.

Re: Made a Red Oak Long Bow
This is a board bow. I searched through a stack of boards at Lowes Hardware to find a board with the right grain.

Made a Red Oak Long Bow
Howdy folks, been a while since I posted in this section. So, this is my latest project; a long bow I made out of piece if red oak. First, here's a shot of the layout. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww1/absilits/long%20bow/DSCN0460_zps7d74ba24.jpg http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww1/absilits/...

Yeah, my forge is down, going to have to rebuild it from the ground up. So, I have to do something to keep my hands busy, I cant sit idle with no project; just not in my nature.

an Exercise in Patience.
I was given this bundle rope that was entirely knotted up. The bundle had served as a "quick fix" where an amount would be pulled 'till it couldn't be pulled anymore and then cut. Finally it got so tangled that it was useless to pull on it anymore. I didn't think to take a picture of the w...

Re: Pattern weld axe made from chain
Do you sell these things?!?!?! Its very beautiful man. Wait, is this the same Mike from over at SBG? if so, welcome man and thanks for the compliment. Well, this is the first pattern weld axe I've made so I'll be keeping this one most likely. Plus doing one out of chain was more for fun and isn't v...

Re: Pattern weld axe made from chain
Wow, I have always liked your axes Avery, but that is a work of art as well as a wonderfully functional tool. I love the work on the handle, totally gorgeous. What is the head's weight? I noticed you didn't mention that in the specs you provided. I'm not sure what the weight was, and I don't have a...

Re: Pattern weld axe made from chain
Okay, so here is the finished axe. I decided to go with an ebony stain. But I also sanded most of the stain off so that it would show in the grain and compliment the pattern on the axe. After a couple of coats of stain, sanding in between, I polished it with Minwax Polishing Wax. So, without further...
