Welcome Ranger! The 2A Numenorean explorer is a good fit. Since you also mentioned a military scout/cartographer, an Ithilian Ranger might not be a bad choice if you want to put together a 3A or 4A kit. They are part of a military structure. I would point out that Aragorn (as Thorongil) went at least as far South as Umbar when he burned the Corsair fleet.

But, as stated above, he's not an "average" Ranger.

As stated above, the main question is: do you want to practice cutting/thrusting or do you intend to spar with it.
