An arbor press might work really well. They tend to be on the order of 1/2-1 ton, but the way they work you can just turn the wheel lightly to apply less than the full force. Question for any of you who use stamps for their leather projects: Has anyone tried attaching the stamp to a drill press. I'm wondering if you'd get a clearer, cleaner stamp than by using a mallet. Obviously with it off! I haven't tried it, but I doubt it would work very well, the pressure a drill ...

Hah! I did not even realize it was in the wrong subforum, I just saw the title about wooden mugs. I suppose if you whittled a mug out of a tree branch it might be a little closer...

I just finished my first mug recently, a slat one like your first one, though with more colors of wood. I also used Titebond 3, which they say is safe for "indirect food contact" and meets the "ANSI/HPVA Type I water-resistance specification", which is pretty good. Adding the wax...
