Re: Grey wool cloak

Nicely done. If you're not sure if you should do anything else with it I suggest you make another one to experiment with.

Re: Axe Carry

Well, how about a frog for your axe, or even attaching the axe directly to the sword sheath? I know a lot of people like the PJ Strider sword with the knife on the scabbard. Just do that with an axe instead. Something like this. https://swordsaxe.com/shop/ols/products/xn-norse-viking-runes-thors-ch...

Light Source.

It's been a spell since I read the Tolken books but I don't recall much discussion if any about light sources other than a fire, torch, or Gandalf's staff as he used in the films. But I came across another video about light sources in the ages past and I'm wondering if anybody in the forums or LARPs...

Re: Axe Carry

The danger in it is falling down. My land has a lot of rocks and gullies and steep hills so falling down is common, and even though my Traumahawk (https://mensgear.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Zombie-Tools-Traumahawk-1.jpg) has a sheath as shown, it's held stiff on the side so it can sort of pivot...

Axe Carry

Attaching a sword to a belt is not too difficult and fairly safe, but I have found to carry an axe on a belt is downright dangerous. I have a small axe (https://mensgear.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Zombie-Tools-Traumahawk-3.jpg) which I carry in a leather sheath. I usually carry it in hand becaus...

Re: Fire steel

interesting, the Reaver Cleaver looks to be the same piece of steel (full tang) all the way through so the pomel should be hardened the same as the blade, so I almost expected it to work, so maybe it is just how it is tempered that stops it from working? I tried striking sparks on a slice of leaf s...

Re: Fire steel

I did actually try it, and no luck at all. One of the blades (Reaver Cleaver) has a lot of raw metal on the back, but even then no luck.

Re: Non-fantasy rangers, other hobbies?

Actually, a vast majority of my rangering is non-fantasy. In the 1920's/30's there were people wearing tattered clothes or potato sacks or flour sacks as clothes for their kids, and I as a prepper wanted to know how to make a soft kit with little more than a blanket. I also backpack and hike and wan...
