Nothing says elven warrior like a maternity hauberk & scale print leggings.

Newly discovered Depiction of a Warrior found in Scotland
Here's something interesting. Might work a bit of it into my Bree kit. specifically the spear. but the shield suspension is interesting as well.

Re: Elladan and Elrohir: Rangers?
Again, speaking for myself of course but I'm far too broken down to portray an ethereal ageless being. I suspect that's part of the problem. Yeah, liked elves more when I was younger. But being built like a large dwarf or a small troll, even at my trimmest, means that the whole effortless ethereal ...

Re: Discovery of Glacier Bay by John Muir
I can't say I recall seeing something exactly like what he describes when I was in Alaska (maybe caedmon has?) but that's a common crafting technique both in AK Native material culture and also I think Northeast Woodland cultures. I live to far north for cedar, but I have some Tlingit friends, I'll...

Re: Elladan and Elrohir: Rangers?
The concept of an elven ranger is not unreasonable. Beleg Strongbow and his company of March Wardens protected Doriath in just that way.
Granted that's 6000 years before the War of the Ring.
But the idea is not foreign to the elves.

Re: Says my IP is blacklisted…anyone know why that happens?
I found it. I had assumed that SpamHaus might have been a PHPBB extension, which I don't have any extensions like that. It turns out that they are very deeply embedded in the core code, and the back end settings that fix the issue, don't reference SpamHaus. Anyway it should be fixed. Let me know if ...

Re: Design for Dwarf Seax
...I would have one suggestion and it would be to make sure that the borders of your design, where it's cut off, are in logical place, like in corners of those central squares. It would look much more intentional. Its hard to do, especially on non regular surface... Gulli, good point. I think I can...

Re: Field forge for a Dwarven Ranger
Here's what I would do. A early medieval seated forge with a small stump anvil and a separate bick. I'd do at least two pairs of tongs, a 2000 gram Swedish pattern, or viking style cross-peen hammer. Some other things needed would be a short shovel, and a 1 inch auger. The forge would consist of a s...

Design for Dwarf Seax
Hey All,
I forged a chunky broke-back seax that screams dwarf to me. Trying to figure out how to finish/decorate the handle. Thinking of going with some WETA inspired geometric designs, paired with migration era garnet jewelry squares. Thoughts?

So what's up with Nazgûl and their mounts?
Reading Fellowship again, and got to the part where Legolas kills the fell beast at the river. And it occurred to me that the Nazgûl's mounts seem to be integral to their ability to be in the world. Why did the death of their horses matter at the Ford of Bruinen? Why couldn't the Nazgûl just keep go...

Just Fixed the wiki
After long ages I have found the big issue with the wiki and it's working again... but I don't have a good skin for it.. sorry, you'll have to suffer through the default Wikipedia style for a little while.

This post is one attempt I made at it (I think Manveruon is much more complete). https://middleearthrangers.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=54647&hilit=Larp#p54647 Here's the meat: Single Event Costume Participation --- Generally Middle Earth participants are copying someone else' interpretation (Pete...

Re: On Elves, Bloodlines, & Beards
Sorry to ressurect this but I also think that the tale of Aldarion & Erindis is salient here. In addition to there being a difference between Numenoreans and other men, there was a difference between the elf descended royals and everyone else. So when we talk about the blood of Numenor, we shoul...
