Re: What does everyone focus on?
Really late reply to your question here. Over the past several years, I've been too broken down to focus on the combat arts. Back injuries, which led to knee injuries on top of shoulder injuries from bad form at the anvil all took me out of action. I'm hoping to start some stretching and see where t...

Re: Fire steel
if there are firesteels to be had, i'll take one! the viking style would be neat but the C style would as well. whatever is available. I haven't made a fire steel in quite a while. Also, the ones in the pic failed in field testing. I think it has to do with the flat face. Perhaps I should look at d...

Re: Kai needs a ranger name
I'm not as up to speed on the different Elvish languages/dialects. His Mom wanted something that shows that he is curious. For my daughter and myself, our names reflect personality, past, appearance. Things like that.

Kai needs a ranger name
https://photos.app.goo.gl/Rxnjr4yQPx2fZHiW9 So, this little guy is Kai. He's my 4 month old grandson. He is very curious. He needs a ranger name. I have always used pixelated Feanor for my names, but it seems to have disappeared. I can't find it, or any mention of it. Please! Don't let my grandson b...

Re: Staining paper
That looks really cool! In my first attempt, the paper tore too easily. I haven't moved forward with the project because so much has been going on. But I'm about to need to move on with it.

Re: Ember. A non LOTR offering
I got stuck on how to drive this story forward, so, taking a page from writing 101, I'm going to have to do some rewriting. It's all a part of the process. That's something I didn't understand before. I like insights into your wordcraft, I do this but I didn't realise it was a thing. I just know I ...

Re: Staining paper
I agree about charring the edges unless there is something in the lore about the piece surviving a fire. For a little more clarity, this will be an ancient drawing for an Elvish blade that is presented to an old injured ranger turned Smith. I guess I should upload the backstory to the bard's stage. ...

Stuttgart Germany
Hey folks,
Is there anyone here that lives in or near Stuttgart, Germany? My daughter, son-in-law and new grandson are there.

Re: Staining paper
I was hoping someone would explain tea staining to me! Thanks for the answers. The paper I'm using is on a big roll that I bought for something else years ago. It is not too light weight. I may try a small test piece when I get home from work today.

Staining paper
So, I'm working on a collaboration with a cosplayer and I need to draw out a sword that I'll be forging. I have some rather large paper but it is white. How would I go about staining it to make it look older?
Hmm, writing that out just planted the seed for a much deeper lore for the blade.

Re: Updates for Vendor-Members
It's time to step back into the forums for real this time. I'm posting a link to my forge's Facebook page. Once I can revive my YouTube channel, I'll post a link to it as well. https://www.facebook.com/ichtheanforge Took a bit because I forgot how to assign ranks...but I got you all set! If I...

Re: Ember. A non LOTR offering
Finally got some editing done: Soon, Martel had the remaining gold coins from the Captain. He stepped from the large tent to find the King’s servant standing nearby. Upon her arm was a large white falcon. Its golden eyes set upon Martel as he approached. Briefly, the woman looked at him then whisper...
