Re: Introducing the Castaway Trading Co!

Thanks! I like how it came out a lot. The pictures don't really do it any kind of justice. Gotta get a few new ones, and a couple of me wearing it. That might show it off a bit better. I really think it's perfect for someone on here.

Re: Introducing the Castaway Trading Co!

Hi again folks! Just bumping this thread to show off my newest little pouch on the ol' Etsy store! I think you guys will really like this one! It's 100% hand-stitched with waxed linen cord, and features an antler button closure! Perfect for the ranger who needs to carry a few small sundries on a tre...

Re: Considering a new bow...

Interesting. I've heard Osage is a very good bow wood, but the ones I've seen have all been longbows.

Re: Making a Pipe

Wonderful! Despite the fact that I do not smoke, I've been wanting a good "ranger pipe" for ages, but all the wooden ones out there cost an arm and a leg. I should definitely look into making one like this!

Re: Good Tunic Patterns?

Yeah, I'd forgotten about that Dagorhir page. I found that myself a while back when I was looking for a good basic tunic pattern. Good stuff. And as for socks.... what sort of style are you going for? Were you thinking something like 18th century cloth stockings? Or perhaps more like full leg-coveri...

Good stuff here guys! Could I maybe pester you fine folks to sound off on what items you consider essential to have in your field sewing kits?

Re: Leather/Glass water container.

Interesting... So how did you hold the leather in place while you were sewing it on? And did you wet the leather first?

Re: From Rhovanion

You have a 32" draw? Wow! Nice bow, incidentally. I'd really love to get my hands on one with horn nocks like that. Looks very authentic. Overall the kit is wonderful! I'd be very interested in seeing some more detail on those arrows. The quiver too.

Re: Leather/Glass water container.

Love this! I've been considering doing something similar myself for quite some time, but I've been having difficulty knowing where to begin. May I ask how you judged the size and shape of the leather so as to make it fit so snugly? And then how you went about actually stitching it onto the bottle?
