Re: Many ways to carry stuff - Experimentation

It depends on how you want to wear your cloak. A backpack with two shoulder straps cannot be worn comfortably over the top of a cloak. Then you have the dilemma if you wear the cloak over the pack that the cloak rides high and you get no warmth or wind protection from it. In this picture I was wear...

Re: New Member - Thanks for having me

Welcome ranger! Enjoy! Its a fun community. Maybe you could still incorperate some of your highland gear into your persona? That'd be cool for a northerner!

Re: Abrecan the breaker - Red sword of vengeance.

Thats a beautiful blade! Even the belt is art. I would love to hear the story behind her. And I bet Eofor's last stand is truly epic; a tale from old like that of Helm Hammerhand.

Through the mists.

Sorry for so many posts. Just found some files small enough to share from some previous patrols.

Re: Video on my Kit

I like your kit! It looks like you're going to come out of the swamps and hew a bunch of Harradrim! The fact that your kit is a work in progress makes me feel better about my own. Either way, we're all having fun! Some of my favoirite shirts and trousers are "linen" yoga/hippie clothes. Ch...

Re: Captured Easterling Blade

Matt Easton actually did a review on my blade with the original guard. He referred to it as a dussack, its marketed as a cutlass, but she's a Falchion at heart. She helped me butcher some Costco boxes yesterday. They all bore the Eye of Sauron. Fun times!

Re: What's everyone working on?

I've got a few projects on my plate. I'm making a bowie from a blank, I'm carving a cup to replace my kuksa since I hope to replace everything I bought with things I made. That was my original intention when I started this hobby, but I just wanted to get out and start rangering instead of just makin...

Re: Captured Easterling Blade

Alright! Thank you, everyone for your compliments on the blade. I'm glad I was able to find a way to bring one of my favorite swords with me for rangering. I remeasured the POB and its closer to 4 1/2 inches than 5 as previously stated. Still a wicked cutter. No orcs are safe! I could easily see why...

Captured Easterling Blade

To tell you the truth, I've been kind of undecided about a sword for a few reasons. I've got a type xiv and like it, but for some reason, I've always preferred a shortish, single-edged cut and thrust sword. I can't explain it. For a more dark aged kit, I got a windlass runic seax, with there not bei...

Re: What are your LEAST FAVORITE outdoor pests?

Due to the sheer terror factor I have to nominate this bastard of a thing. https://i.imgur.com/hKIpSJr.jpg After that, other humans and leeches (I itch for weeks after a leech bite) Are you in Mirkwood or did you try infiltrating Cirith Ungol? You could keep it! Got chased by one of these little bu...

Re: The lesson

It didn’t matter how many times he came to this place, its beauty still moved him. Around him a handful of other rangers busied themselves with organisation, general tasks to prepare for the return of the rest of the force but he was left alone with time to admire the falls of Henneth Annûn. His ge...

Re: Equipment of the other cultures

Hey I'm just saying it didn't happen often in history which is where I tend to go for my guidance. Absolutely soldiers capture trophies and I can totally see the officer in the mess in Gondor displaying his foreign looking sword and telling the story of how he slew a great chieftain in single comba...
