Re: Dry goods and other musings

I too enjoy a good fruitcake, but you have to experiment until you either find a good production one or go to the MAJOR expense of making your own. As to the time period it lasts even production fruitcakes will last a good long time. If you buy a cake (loaf shaped) and cut a piece off an end, the ex...

Re: Ranger pack

I still have a canvas dropcloth/tent mentioned about 1/2 way down this old thread. http://www.ranger.budgetauthenticity.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=114&hilit=bedroll When I originally posted this I was using a wool blend emergency blanket. I subsequently got the red 100% wool blanket so if...

Bumped them over to imgur and hopefully they will come out: 1st pick is the pack itself. It's an old military pack I painted a brow...

Re: What's everyone working on?

I've done some with soft liners, hard plastic liners (hard to find these days) and Grolsch Beer Bottles. The Grolsch bottles have a spring/ceramic cap, so their easy to make. I made a tutorial on here almost 20 years ago and another good thing is you can generally buy them from a beer/soda distribut...

Re: Ranger pack

Andy, What are the two arrows outside the quiver for? Are they field points and hunting heads stay in the quiver? Hey Peter, the arrows in the quiver are field tips or bodkins. The arrows on the outside are broad head hunting tips. The shearling inside the quiver is great for keeping the arrows sti...
