Re: New Kingston Arms swords!

Thank you Cimrandir! I am a huge fan of the XIV blade shape in general. It’s extremely well suited to both the cut and the thrust, and its shorter length is perfect for closer quarters. I had a Windlass XIV for a while, but it just felt too clunky to me in the hand. It needed a lot of material taken...

Re: Thinking About the Bowie Knife

Personally I think some Bowie style blades (note: blades, not handles) translate well to Middle Earth. Manveruon made a good point that many seax blades superficially resemble some Bowie blade shapes, and there is plenty of evidence for clip points on baurnwehr knives in Germany. I am personally not...

Re: [Concept Art] Ranger costume

Eofor and Cimrandir have great points. Another thing you might want to look into is possibly a different style of cloak. The front-fastening cloak that meets at the throat looks really cool, but (this is a personal opinion) it’s an easy snag and control point. If your cloak catches on something or i...

Re: New Kingston Arms swords!

The symmetry on the guard is very good, and so is that of the pommel. The pommel does mount very slightly twisted off center when tightened, but not too bad.

Re: What's everyone working on?

My current knife setup is still a little on the modern side as well. I’ve got a Condor Hudson Bay that I carry on my main belt w my sporran pouch, and a much smaller Mora blade that I put an antler handle on and got a leather sheath for.

Where did you get it from? I love it!

Re: Beorning Honey Cakes

Thank you so much, I would love some more baking recipes, especially more gluten free ones! I work in fine dining so my cooking skills have vastly expanded over the last couple of years but I still have very little experience baking.

Eofor, was this to replace the plain flour? Can this be substituted for any sort of flour (thinking gluten free)?

Re: New Kingston Arms swords!

Thanks for the warning!

Yeah I’m a big fan of the XIII style for Middle Earth, it feels a little closer to being a post-Migration style blade, from an era where most armor would still be maille hauberks like described in the books.
