Treasure!
Well well well, look what we have here! Many many thanks to our very own Mr. Wil Whitfoot for these wonderful artifacts, straight from Middle-earth! One thing I’ve been trying to do lately is fill in some of the empty corners, so to speak, of my kit and persona, including some “pocket trash” (as it ...

Re: Thinking About the Bowie Knife
I like both of your points. To your point, Yavion: this is only a thought experiment, like a "what if Halbarad was dropped into 1856 Dodge City and was forced to adapt, would he go for the bowie knife or something else" sort of thinking. I'm not gonna add a bowie knife to my ranger kit, d...

Re: Thinking About the Bowie Knife
This is driving me CRAZY - I feel like I remember a thread about this specific topic a while back, but I can’t quite recall now - but in any case, may I offer for your consideration, the seax: IMG_7414.jpeg Okay, it’s not REALLY the same as a Bowie knife, but like… it DOES have a certain Bowie-ish q...

Re: War of the Rohirrim - New anime movie
I just hope they take as much care with the source material as Jackson did :P Sorry, I just had to laugh at that. PJ emasculated Aragorn and the core of the story. That is all. Onward to this Rohirrim project. I'm hoping for the best but will expect the worst. Hopefully they get the core of the sto...

Makes sense to me! That’s exactly what I use my snapsack for! Extremely convenient for that purpose!

Re: I got a rock!
That’s absolutely beautiful! I’ve got a similar one that I bought years ago from some online seller or other, and the color is gorgeous, but it’s a much more regular, almost machine-made shape than this one. I LOVE how you can really tell that this one was fashioned by hand!

HOLY CRAP. I’ve been trying to catch up on some older posts here that I missed over the last few months, so I only JUST saw this, but… just… HOLY CRAP. This is some seriously INCREDIBLE work, Iodo! I love how you have incorporated the strong, angular geometry of the Wētā Dwarven aesthetic, and even ...
Re: Coinage
Well not to totally necro-post here again, but I finally broke down and placed an order to the Shire Post Mint for 7 different coins - 1 Gondorian penny in copper, 1 Gondorian penny in silver, 1 silver Gondorian crown (which I think is supposed to essentially be a “Castar?”), and 4 brass shire tuppe...

Re: The making of a Dunedain Snapsack
Good lord, Elleth, this is some seriously next-level stuff! For my own part, I still absolutely love the simple snapsack I received from you several years ago for the Yuletide gift exchange! It gets constant field use with my kit, and doesn’t look to be wearing out anytime soon - and it’s JUST a sim...

Point of Curiosity, re: Snapsacks/Knapsacks
I was just browsing around online for some info on historical snapsacks of the 18th Century, and I stumbled upon this almost immediately in my Google results - thought folks here would find it interesting! https://www.nps.gov/articles/000/commentary-on-snapsacks.htm Ultimately, the (rather short) ar...

Re: Oaths and cursing
Well this whole thread is hilarious and delightful! (Especially for someone like me, who admittedly peppers modern profanity - and occasionally archaic profanity - into his everyday language like commas!) It’s funny - I was playing a Star Wars Roleplaying Game campaign over the last couple of ...

Re: What's everyone working on?
Manveruon, I absolutely love your bedroll setup. Any way you’d be willing to post more detailed pics? Thanks! Yeah, I could probably snap a few at some point - but honestly, it’s a really really simple setup. Basically it’s just about 3 yards (I think) of lightweight oilcloth from periodfabric.com ...
