We had a woodstove inside so it was pretty comfortable. I have been much colder camping in the rain versus snow,,I'll...

The first time I made it and prepared it, I didn't prepare it well enough when cooking,,so salty it almost made me throw up. You have to soak it, and boil it and change out the water several times. Making ...

Without seeing it it's hard to say, but what about laying flat, cutting off some of the top and resewing it.

Re: Ranger's Workout

Having completed a 175 mile walk through Spain last summer, I would say that the best workout is LOTS of walking with your gear. Find a good steep hill to practice on too, body weight squats, planks, and dynamic stretching.

Building a longhouse

Today I just got home from a great experience. I have posted here before about the Roman fort and celtic village here in Arkansas, well this weekend we started another celtic longhouse. There were some modern tools used like a chainsaw and "mule" utility vehicle to tow logs out of the wood...

Re: Yuletide Gift Exchange - anyone interested?

Sorry it took me so long to get this posted, but with illness and the holidays,,you know. I now present a beautiful hand carved birch drinking noggin from Udwin. Enclosed I also found a letter detailing the year of Aistan Bear-foot. I know that this noggin will serve me well in my travels and aid in...

Re: Yuletide Gift Exchange - anyone interested?

Ringulf, I am glad that you are happy with yours. I was nervous because there is so much quality work here.

Udwin, I greatly appreciate the wooden noggin you made, it will serve me well. I also enjoyed your letter.

I am felling under the weather today so I haven't taken any pictures yet.
