Re: Sodhopper style boots pattern!
As for linen thread, I'd personally steer away from it when making boots. It tends to break down fairly easily, in my experience, which is a quality you really don't want in the thread that's holding your boots together. I'd go with synthetic, just for durability's sake.

Re: Other books
If you're interested in general medieval whatnot (and don't mind a little sex and gore), you might be interested in checking out the "Outlaw" series, by Angus Donald. They're books about Robin Hood, from a more historical standpoint, and told from the perspective of a young Alan A-Dale. Th...

Re: Pictures of your ranger kit
Yeah, now that I know he lives in the area I might have to hit him up again before too long to take a look at that Squire he's got once the custom scabbard gets finished. I'd love to test it out a little. Sadly I think almost $1000 for one of those is a little out of my price range, but it would be ...

Re: Considering a new bow...
Yeah, everyone I know with a bamboo backed bow seems to swear by it and say they'll never willingly use anything else in a primitive style. Personally I've never really liked the way it looked (too "exotic" for my tastes), but it does seem to make a very good bow. At the booth where I work...

Is it bad that I was sorely tempted to vote for the last option?
Either way, I vote put them up!

Re: Pictures of your ranger kit
Haha, yep. Wondered if you guys knew him through the SBG forums, etc. Small world. Sadly, he didn't have the Squire with him because it's getting a custom scabbard made at present. But MAN I want to check it out. It just sort of speaks to me in all the pics I've seen. It's a little late period for w...

Thanks! When I saw that thing I knew I had to get some shots of us locked in mortal combat, haha. And I just so happened to be right next to a photographer I know, so there you have it!

Heh, that should've been "suspicion," but I'm sure you figured that out. I can't even blame it on auto-correct, since I don't have a smart-phone. That was just plain, old-fashioned, stupid-typing.

Re: Pictures of your ranger kit
As for my sword preference, I think overall my favorite looking sword out there right now is the Albion Squire (I notice mcapanelli has one in his kit way back in his original post, incidentally, and I am jealous). I haven't held one, but thanks to a nice young Dread Pirate Roberts who visited the C...
