Re: Middle Earth Cattle and Dairy Products
This is from Udwin, who is having trouble with his account right now: For a complete list of all the foods Tolkien mentions in late Third Age materials, check out Edge of the Wild for Autumn 2019 (Vol4:I2) (TLDR: we have plenty of references to butter and cheese throughout Middle-earth). -Cattle are...

SO JEALOUS! ALSO... I have totally been wanting to try floating a coracle these last couple years, and just don't have a willow big enough to make one (or time, really) - I know there are makers in the UK, but does anyone know of a maker here in the northeast US I might pester? Arguably, ...

Love this! I've always pricked up at that line when reading, too.
That being said...I'm now hearing "I'm on a horse and I'm killing some orcs" loosely to the tune of "Diggy diggy hole."

Re: "Unpacked" Video Series
I'm pretty much in agreement with Elleth here, though I think my snapsack on the quiver outweighs her preference by a little...but not a ton. I'll have to weight that snapsack with a full load of dry goods sometime and see what it really comes out to...but the feeling on the shoulder closely mirrors...

A good number of us have HEMA experience in varying degrees. Odigan has studied and practiced for years, and I know Ursus is an instructor in a wide array of disciplines.

Re: Light Source.
Candles are discussed pretty consistently, and 'Rushlight' is both a historical method for lighting as well as a last name in the Breelands, suggesting at its use, so there's a few options.

Does it seem to bead moisture, or soak it up? I'd be terrified of its "wet" weight.

Re: Review: "Elfin" Rattan Recurve by Bows of the Risen Son
It's not a high-performance piece. I don't use it anymore, as I'm much happier with the Yew bows I've been making myself, but I still have it and it's still functional. It did take a fair bit of set, but it seemed to hit a limit. For the price and to get something that LOOKS right, it's a great opti...

Re: "Unpacked" Video Series
Couple of questions - 1.) What's the reasoning on the waxed linen on the inside versus wrapped on the outside of the blanket to keep it dry and clean? 2.) Any particular reason for using rope for part of the tumpline instead of leather through out? 3.) How comfortable is it under the armpit? I am e...
