Re: Antler as a knife handle material

Antler is the ideal handle material if you're using a stick, stub or rats-tail tang. You just pack the hollow full of cutler's pitch and set the metal in. As such I think it should be a lot more common on belt knives then is found in collections (mostly because historically people didn't collect com...

Good enough for the common man

I just watched this youtube by Tod. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r8cmUUz-m8 And it got me thinking, is our kit too good ? I mean, none of us are kings or princes (not even ones in hiding) so shouldn't our gear and garb look a bit more homemade ? Not that I'm saying everything we own should look ...

Re-creation, re-enactment, LARP and Cosplay...

While I'm sure we agree that these are all just facets of the same basic concept (I want to be someone else for a bit), they're not the same pastime.
So, where do you think one stops and another starts?

This is the difference between re-creation, re-enactment, LARP and Cosplay.... At least in my mind, I think I might go start another thread rather then hijack this one.

Re: New utility/fighting knife

Yikes! that sort of thing is why I am terrified of trying to post or import such things, once a pen-friend of mine who is in the US randomly decided to send me a knife he didn't want anymore because he knows I like such things, that got destroyed by customs before I ever knew it existed and it wasn...

Re: Greetings from Rurik

Greetings Rurik, Well met.

I'm fat and fiftyish, so I portray a grumpy dwarf* in his second century. Lots of wiggleroom for personas and loads of help, advice and information on here.

*Yes, I know "Gumpy Dwarf" is a tautology. :P

Re: Hidden Depths

Thank you, mate..... I rarely have the nerve to share anything I write, and almost never somewhere this public. I used to feel the same but now I just write and share as the mood takes me and I know that anyone not interested will just see my name in the Bards stage and can scroll on by. I really e...

Re: Arrow deflection

Arrows are probably easier to work out where they came from, after all you do have a long stick pointing the way. I fully believe that some Elves would spend an idle century or two messing around with that sort of thing. I’m referring to after the glance off of something and re-direct. I understood...

Re: Hidden Depths

Epilogue. Years pass, the seasons come and go in their own time and rhythm. Village life remains the same and yet changes. The well still stands on the green and every morning the womenfolk gather their water together sharing the work and gossip, but the houses have new additions and extensions and ...
