Small game with a short bow...
Anyone done it? That is, gone after rabbit to ground hog sized critters with one of those three-foot or so bows, like some of the plains Indians (or a certain Dúnadan) carried? If so - how heavy should they be, and assuming middling competence, what's an effective range? Any ideas on who makes such...

Re: green wool overs, custom elvish dagger, tinker blade, etc.
The blade is - as I recall - made by Hanwei to specs from Tinker. It is 43" long, and from the tip of the tang to the shoulder of the blade is about 9 1/4" The final inch or so of the tang is threaded - I couldn't say what pitch or diameter I'm afraid. No welding anywhere though, and it ce...

Thank you all! Oh, Alaska is amazing. It really can't be captured in words or pictures. Everytime I go down Outside now, the 48 feels all..... overly-cramped and too-civilized. Up here, most of the state isn't on a road system, and even that which is gets very spread out and sparse once you're a hun...

Hello all!
Eric - The dagger is sharp on both sides. It's like a big thorn or fang or something.
Greg - So far you're first in line.

green wool overs, custom elvish dagger, tinker blade, etc.
Hi! Like I mentioned elsewhere, I'm in the midst of a housecleaning, and this is where I thought these would be most appreciated. First the descriptions - I'll post photos as soon as I can manage to get them uploaded. 1. Wool heuk and capuchon. At least, that's what I'm told to call them. In English...

Since Eric was kind enough to ask for an introduction - here I is. :) Hi! Im elleth. ;) I've done living history stuff on and off for years, but am only recently starting to get back into it more seriously. More to the point, I'm looking at doing a fairly long woodswalk sometime soon - possibly next...

Re: How would you do it?
Given your location in NC, might I suggest looking at the history of American frontier riflemen incorporated into the Patriot and Tory militaries? You're right smack in the middle of the grounds where a story not at all unlike what you're describing played out for real. :) If I recall correctly, the...
