Re: Scenario - May 2014
The biggest problem is going to be the 2 sentries with spears. I can't exactly engage them head on with a sword, so they will have to account for my first 2 arrows. There's no good place to have a close enogh shot at both to make sure I can get them each with a single arrow. Because the southern sen...

Re: Desolation of Smaug: Review
Through all its (many) faults, I do love the opening scene in Bree. A whole movie set in the Pony would go right by me :) The dialogue is a bit chunky, as with the rest of the script, but I did appreciate the nod to the Appendices. Is that Peter Jackson's daughter as the serving girl? I wonder if s...

Re: Indianapolis Hobbit luncheon May 24
I don't live that close to Indy, but I will be there in August for GenCon. Is there any chance of arranging a meetup one evening that weekend? Does anyone else here attend the best four days in gaming?

Re: Happy Birthday to one of our newest members - bjaurelio
Thanks for the birthday wishes. I've already learned so much from everyone. I look forward to getting on here a few times a week to see what new tidbit of information I can glean from my fellow rangers. Hopefully as I get more experience I'll be able to contribute more and give back for the help you...

Re: Cold steel seconds
How does one go about shaping the blade into a seax or elven hunting knife? I'm interested in trying a project like this. Hacksaw, files, and sandpaper of various grits, at a minimum. A bench grinder and belt sander can certainly help by speeding things up. And thanks, folks, for posting this sale....

Re: Dunedain Lembas Bread Experiment
Here's a recipe for lembas I had my sister make for my engagement party, and it turned out really well. The party wasnt LotR themed, but my wife and I met at a LotR movie marathon, and I proposed on a date to a screening of Fellowship of the Ring with live choir and orchestra at a local outdoor perf...

Re: Guess what finally came
Nice looking arrows. My first arrows were also from China throgh ebay, but some other wood than bamboo. They worked fairly well for starting out. The biggest problem I had was inconsistency in the spine as some would go left and others wag back and forth. That led me to purchase some spruce shafts, ...

Re: The Rangers Kickstarter is Live
I'm just now finding this. Since I live in Alexandria, I will have to look further into this and see about what roles either my wife or I could audition for. She would definitely enjoy something like this.

Re: New Finds- Please read the first post before replying
I recently came across this seax and thought someone may be interested. It's very basic with just a larger wrap for grip, but the simplicity would make it fit any ranger's gear.

Very nice pack. I may have to imitate this. How long are the updated straps with buckles?

My leather is also starting a gorgeous, textured grey color- and I intend to do some overdye work on it, probably with an air gun and oil dyes. I plan to add greenish and brown colors to it in a somewhat mottled pattern- not so obvious as camo, but there, none the less! Do post pic when this is don...

Re: Bow grips
My wife and I used a leather tennis wrap for the handle of our u-finish bow. It ended up having a little writing on it, but with a little extra overlap, it was easily covered. It turned out quite nice. As for the shape of the grip, I too like the idea of a little extra flat wood on the handle to bui...
