Revitalizing an old pipe

Post by mg2Arnor »

Hey rangers. Any tips for revitalizing an old pipe? I've got a nice long-stem pipe, but it's 20 yrs old and very dry. Can't tell if it is cracking, but it looks solid so far. Is there a way to clean it and bring the wood back to life?

Try a light coat of olive oil. Repeat daily for a week or so. The oil will permeate the wood over time so continue to do it for the week. Then check by buffing with a light cloth after letting it sit for an hour after oiling. It should have a nice sheen to it . Depending on how dry the pipe is you may have to continue longer than a week.
