Working on a project and I need a little help. I need a containment/protection spell in symbols, an old written language or Elven. It needs to be able to be written/symboled vertically and can't be a modern language, just about anything else is up for grabs.
Thanks in advance.

I guess it depends on what you are trying to protect against or contain. Can you elaborate any? My wife suggests writing out what you want in English, translate it to the appropriate language (German, Sindarin, etc) and then transliterate that into runes. Of course, you could do what Jody Samson did for the Father's sword in Conan the Barbarian. His script went down the blade, and when turned one way looked to be runes, but the other, you can read it, as it is in English, "Suffer no guilt ye who wields this in the name of Crom".
"Well, what are you waiting for? I am an old man, and have no time for your falter! Come at me, if you will, for I do not sing songs of dastards!"

Not keen on Japanese (too recognizable) , the elven glyph would be great.Gareth wrote: Does the specific language count?
I ask because I have access to Japanese Kanji, as well as a made up elven glyph-language.
Is it the energy of the blade that you're containing?
If so is it benevolent or malevolent?
Would old cabalistic or alchemical symbols work?
Yes, attempting to contain the energy and gain control over the sword.
Oh, it malevolent alright "Bad Sword! Down!"
Cabalistic or alchemical would work also, but the Elven/glyphs sounds like it would work better.
