Ringulf, I have a pair of boots identical to those. Well, I dyed them a weird sort of mottled brown, but they started just like those in your photo. They took a while to adjust to my feet, but they fit well now. I should warn you, the soles are smooth, nearly to being slick. I didn't notice outdoors, but this past fall I was booked at a mini Ren Faire held inside. I didn't like skittering on a tile floor with a fiddle under one arm and a bouzouki hanging off the opposite shoulder. Luckily, I managed not to fall and crunch anything. I've been told to put a small piece of duct tape on the sole, and it won't be so slippery.
Thank you very much Armchair for the heads up!

I may go ahead and pit a tooled leather sole in addition to the original for traction.
How does the shoe feel as far as sole thickness and foot protection now?
If the extray layer was overkill it would be a facter in doing that but I almost feel like getting a layer I can re sole every few years might not be bad.
Any pros or cons anyone? I am interested in opinions on that.

It needs an insole. These come with nothing but stiff leather against the bottom of your foot. I added a squishy Dr Scholl's insole, cut to size, and I wear thick socks no matter the weather. I was using green army boot socks, but I recently got some alpaca wool socks that are softer, just as thick, and warmer, too. I need to get some more of those.
OH that reminds me I have two alpacca farms within a mile of me in different directions and am on good terms with one. they make all kinds of alpaca wool garments and such. If anyone needs anything I have been looking for an excuse to go visit and I will get pricing or let you get there number to request what you want.
BTW Kiriana, does alpaca wool work on you? this stuff is totally natural right of the beast. In fact I walked out with a pair of earmuffs at Christmas for my little sister, and a could swear one of them snarled at me!

(besides we would not want all those comandos out there to feel left out! )
