Wool cap and fingerless gloves.

A lot of reenactment level work is about learning appropriate historical crafts and skills. This board is for all general skills that don't have their own forum.

Wool cap and fingerless gloves.

Post by Grimble Grumble »

I made these gloves and cap out of 100% virgin wool yarn using a viking age process called Nalebinding.
These are actually my first items made using the technique. It wasn't really difficult. I just used several youtube videos for instruction.
I found a guy named MVsBushcraft to have the best basic walkthrough of the process. I made the cap very much like his.
I followed only intuition with the gloves, no pattern. I used a fairly large antler needle that I had made a few years ago.

Now that is impressive! My wife does nalebinding so I know how time consuming and intricate it can be. Well done, Ranger!

Well done! Love the gloves.

Yes. They are made from a very soft wool.

They are actually a dark grey. The pictures are of the same gloves. The sunlight just changed the color in the picture.
