Hey folks! Just wanted to put this out there so everyone can see the new pouch we've got up on the Castaway Trading Company's Etsy shop. I figured this one might interest you all here quite a bit. This pouch was designed as sort of a hybrid between a Birka style Viking pouch and a typical High Middle Ages belt pouch. It is completely hand stitched with waxed linen thread, without the use of any modern rivets, etc, and the closure uses no buttons, fasteners, or anything of that nature. To secure the pouch, the flap is closed, with the small loop protruding through the hole, and then the long fastening strap is passed through the loop. This holds the flap more securely than I would have believed when I first made a pouch like this, and what's more, it's remarkably easy to get open and closed - much more so than a button or tie of some kind.
Anyway, I hope you all like it! This one was kind of a labor of love, and I think it's probably one of the best pouches I've made to date. I hope it finds a very good home!
