Its an interesting method. Some time ago I went and got the DVD set with books. Glad I did too; some of the stuff was counter intuitive despite experience making Roman and Late Roman footwear.
They make good boots.

Thanks for the pattern! It doesn't look that difficult, sounds like a good winter project!

I might be interested in trying this as well.

Got it! This is the same one that Cinead had, because I found his name on one of the forums that led me to it. You can get it here:

way cool.
I also came across a guy who made a detailed doc on making them:
I also came across a guy who made a detailed doc on making them:
He sent a sample with directions and pics - looks to have very detailed instructions (specific info on what kind of thread/needles/stitches/ect are best to use) and very good pictures. In total it is 52 pages long and has 70 photos. To keep costs reasonable I send out the pdf file on a cd. That way you can print the instructions and still have the larger version of the photos to get a closer look at what is going on. The info in the booklet is pretty much a tidy presentation of the notes I took during a 6 month apprenticship to learn how to make the mocs and sandals with a bunch of pictures added.
These intructions are for a turned shoe (like the Sodhopper style). One of my customers used the same patterning and construction principles to do a stitch down version that is a bit simpler.
If you are interested, send me a $45 check and I'll send you a CD.
