Metal Shop

Alright rangers, it would be a huge help if you could help me brainstorm some ideas for a metal shop class. I am completely stumped on what to do. I would prefer to have it something I can use rangering but it cant be a weapon and I don't have real access to a forge
I originally was going to do a medieval fork, spoon, and knife, but the teacher said I would most likely need a forge so I'm out of ideas.

Perhaps some scales, to make armor with?

Buckles? Like medieval style belt or armor buckles?

Another idea: you could make a fire piston - a project presumably within the great knowledge and wisdom of the Numenoreans, may have been passed down for generations due to the great craft of its makers - and the perfect sort of ranger project for a machine shop.

Not sure if this applies or if you would even want to, but you could make the tools for making riveted maille.

Just a few ideas. It's a bit difficult, because one usually expects ranger-esqe metal items to be forged or cast.

What equipment are you working with and what are you limited to making?

Cold dishing is a real pain, but you could try a shield boss or parts to a spanhgenhelm.

For beginning armorers, TOMAR recommends making spaulders: cutting, finishing, light dishing, rolling, making holes, and strapping. Made a pair last year.

For other ideas: brass wire jewelry or cloak clasps, tin box, or throwing stars

We have sheet metal brakes, cutters, benders, crimpers, an anvil, a tack welder, a regular welder, propane torches, CNC router, various hand tools, scroll saws, belt sanders, a drill press, band saw, miter saw, bench grinder and buffer wheels, uuum I think that might be it.

Hmm, maybe I'll make a helm for trolls and giggles, but I wonder if Id be able to make a hatchet?

I was rewatching season 1 of "The Vikings" in preparation of season 2, and saw something like this that you could make with the shop tools that you have:

You could easily do a 'Middle Earth' pattern or design on it.
