Strongblade Coustille Rehilt

A central place to talk about weapons and armour, as it relates to your kit. This is where you show it of or talk about making it. Discussing the relative merits of types of weapons goes in the WMA section.

Strongblade Coustille Rehilt

Post by caedmon »

Ok, since I'm taking lots of pics tonight, here's something I haven't talked about much.

I've done a couple sword rebuilds in the last few months here are the results:

Exhibit 1: Strongblade Coustille reshape guard and recover hilt & scabbard

I love that scabbard art! Can you say more about it? The part under the stars has the look of Tolkien's own drawings. Is that where it's from?

Yay! it is the sword of father Christmas! I love it! I have a Christmas character that is a Dwarven Rune mage His name is Yule Valkatuka!
I am Ringulf the Dwarven Woodsman, I craft leather, wood, metal, and clay,
I throw axes, seaxes, and pointy sticks, And I fire my bow through the day.
Come be my ally, lift up your mead! We'll search out our foes and the Eagles we'll feed!

Yes, you're right, it is connected to Tolkien, but not LOTR. It's the North Pole, from the Father Christmas Letters. The red part is red felt used to patch up the pole after a North Polar Bear broke it.

My whole Family read the book every Christmas, and thrill to new letters that Father Christmas sends just to us.

As do mine every year since my son was 9 and my daughter 7! I always thought those stories/letters were a wonderful side trip into the Proffessor's legacy!
