Source for decorative trim

So as I mentioned on my 'cold weather gear' post, I bought a Viking-style tunic from museum replicas. I like it except that it has this weird modern trim, a dull gold with a combination of ovals and slanted lines that almost make it look like the letter 'd' written over and over.

It's too integral to tear out, I believe, so I'd like some trim to cover it. The problem is that it's pretty large. I'd like to find some interesting trim to replace it. The tunic is grey wool. It would be awesome to find, say, silver stars on blue, but I'm not holding my breath.

If nothing else pans out, I'll probably just get a nice dark green and cover it with a solid trim

So if anyone knows of a good source for trim, I'd appreciate it.

Calontir Trims (http://www.calontirtrim.com/) has a huge selection of trims. Thick, thin, with metallic threads or not. You should be able to find something you like.

Alternately, you could take up tablet or inkle weaving and make your own.

Calontir trim, most definitely, It is a very comprehensive source and has a good website, though I must say that the colors on the site are not always indicative of the color of the trim in person, so be warned!

Also very nice stuff. I have a friend who did tablet weaving for a while and I have some of her stuff that I use as cloth belts for garb. I don't have the time or patience for things like that.

It's actually easy once you get set up (stringing cards/loom). Most folks I know do it while watching TV since it doesn't require total concentration.
