New knife

A central place to talk about weapons and armour, as it relates to your kit. This is where you show it of or talk about making it. Discussing the relative merits of types of weapons goes in the WMA section.

New knife

Post by Ursus »

Here's my new camp knife that I made to replace my old one. Its modeled on a Scottish sgain knife. Its hand forged from an old piece of stock I had lying around. The handle is antler with a brass spacer. Taking inspiration from one I saw online I engraved a rough thistle on the antler. It handles all my camp chores from skinning or chopping up veggies to shaving kindling and trimming skewers. Its also just big enough to act as fighting knife in a pinch which is one reason I added a small back edge. I sewed a scabbard for it directly to my fighting dirk scabbard.

Very nice job! Comboing it with your dirk looks great, and I like the carving you did on the handle.

Nicely done. I'm a sucker for a good byknife.

Very nice rugged look. I like it. I'm thinking of doing some byknives for my bigger blades.
