Fall 2019 MERS Moot
Greetings fellow travelers!
This past weekend, a respectable group of 'Taurandir' descended upon the Tecumseh trail in Southern Indiana, a 42-mile through hike trail, to hike a segment of it and set up a few camps. We had an excellent time, with both new and old faces, put a decent number of miles underfoot (I'd wager approximately +/-12 miles each all told, not counting walking around camp), and slept dry through several short bursts of rain on the second night.
I'll let the proof in the pudding do the rest of the talking. Enjoy!

A fantastic time as always with absolutely perfect weather and great company.
Fun fact: the cumulative mileage for the four of us just to attend (not including return trips) was ~2,600 miles.

Oh that looks like a GRAND time!
And what a wonderful shelter!
How long were you out for?

Three days. Overnights on Friday and Saturday and packed out on Sunday morning in a refreshing light rain. It was a joy to finally attend a forum gathering, the only thing that surpassed the weather was the fine company!Elleth wrote:How long were you out for?

That looks like an amazing adventure
and that natural shelter looks really impressive, how big is it?

The main roof is approximately one-Ursus-long-by-one-Ursus-wide.
We increased the capacity with a lean-to off each side, which adds roughly one Ursus' width to each side, allowing for four, maybe someday five, occupants.

Udwin's conspicuous absence was my one and only regret of this adventure. He's a constant and welcome companion, and would have added much to the proceedings.
Dave's presence was a wonderful addition...I haven't seen him on the trail since the first overnighter Odigan and I met on back in 2011. This time, he had made some garb for himself and is excited to come along for more.
Odigan is, as always, a treasure trove of historical and metallurgical knowledge, and is an absolute treat to discuss such things with.
Ursus was a pleasure to meet, and carries himself and his gear in a way that clearly shows trail and trek experience. Looking forward to more!
