Ringulf's New Prospective Summer Soft Kit
Ringulf's New Prospective Summer Soft Kit
I am in need of a bit of new Garb that I can wear for SCA. I decided that though my persona is a rather well traveled older Varangian, this garb set would work fairly well for a dwarven ranger too if I could make it to the quality of kit.
So here are the things I am going to put together. I will use much of the style elements here and try to make most of it myself.
I sent for the boots already so that I had something right away and I love the look of these Norman Cavelry boots (I doubt they will stay in thier original form) But I do plan on making a pair of turnshoes or turnshoe boots clodhopperstyle as soon as I can get to it. (just because I want the experience of doing so and everytime I look at the original pics I tell myself I have to have a pair)
The pants are simple and go over a pair of modern Breas (my shorts) 'cause I just don't think I could make these work:
Ha Ha
Next the simple pants I have some of these already.
Choosing between these two shirts or my green tunics will depend on the temperature and how many I have already sweat through.
I was thinking about making a jerkin, and still may for the fall. Right now I kinda like this for the chilly nights, Though I don't envision using it much I really think it would be great in the spring and fall.
I like the idea of these and read about them in an old viking saga but never had a picture in my mind as to what they looked like. They are made of leather strips and are in the Russ style.
And of course a broad belt, perhaps not as broad as this one, but I kinda like the style of this, abd the headband and bracers all of my own making to match.
And who know perhaps if those Russ pants work out I wont need the pants at all!
AAAH! I can feel the cool breeze now!

Well, let's see. Hmmm. To the best of my recollection they were all on this strange site called "Middle Earth Ranger Forum".
There was this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19219622/hosen1.jpg

Seems to be a trend!

By the gods be quiet man! You don't want to encourage Pete to show you his bear skin rug picture again do you? It took me two full cycles of the moon to purge that vision from my memory.kaelln wrote:Ringulf man, you know I love you, but is it just me, or has there been waaaayyy too many pictures of men in underwear lately?
