New to this ...

Post by turnip »

Hi, my name is (in the modern USA) Cinda Rae, but will go by Sindara (a bit more elvish). Am new to this site, although both of my daughters have joined ( so I will be in under my younger daughter's login - Turnip). I am a long-time believer of all things 'magic', love Middle-Earth, Flanagan's Rangers series. Hope to learn much from others, hope to be able to share what I have/am (recently posted about a great book - Herbs to the Rescue). My youngest would like to start a group of 'believers' in the North Idaho area, and we could use some pointers about how to get this going. Thanks so much for a great site, and a refreshingly wonderful group of people! Sindara

Welcome Sindara! I am also a believer in all things magic, and the most magical things of all are some of the wonderful books we all love. So many of the folks here are so knowledgeable that you're sure to have a great time!

Welcome, Welcome!!

I am very happy to hear that you have come to us through your daughters and that you love the same things we do. It is great to support your kids in groups that provide alternatives for learning, reading, history and of course imagination. These types of activities are growing scarcer by the day and many that are around would not work during a power failure!

I became involded in the writings of Tolkien when I was about 12 but had nearly exhausted the genre in classical literature prior to that.

I dabbled in the SCA and D&D type gaming but put it all down20 years ago to raise a family.

It was my own children that brought me back to the things I loved and even now with them at the ages of 25 and 23, they have me out Larping and crafting in the SCA and writing for a John Flanagan based Literary RPG called "Halt's Playground".

So glad you are here and that you too have opted to learn from you children as they learn from you! (just as I have  )
I am Ringulf the Dwarven Woodsman, I craft leather, wood, metal, and clay,

Come be my ally, lift up your mead! We'll search out our foes and the Eagles we'll feed!

Welcome, I'm a fan of the RA books as well. I have been re-reading them and looking forward to the last one this October.
In the darkest part of Sherwoods glade, in the thickest part of the wood, there are those who say, can still be seen, the ghost of Robin Hood.
