New Bow and arrows

A central place to talk about weapons and armour, as it relates to your kit. This is where you show it of or talk about making it. Discussing the relative merits of types of weapons goes in the WMA section.

New Bow and arrows

Post by Straelbora »

Fellow forum Ranger Gondian shipped me probably the best package I've ever received: a custom made long bow, some beautiful arrows and a very nice quiver, to boot.

I haven't gotten any photos taken yet, but I have a couple that Gondian sent to whet my appetite before the box shipped.

My wife, who doesn't really "get" Rangering saw the bow and said, "It's not just deadly looking, it's a work of art."

I haven't figured out where I'm going to do real target practice yet, but my back yard is big enough that I set an old, heavy-duty plastic garbage can in front of my shed, put the wood chopping block in front of that, then placed a milk jug full of water on the chopping block. I used some modern, store-bought arrows and did a couple of practice runs. My four year old son, so much a product of the digital age, said that the arrows went too fast to see and wanted to know if I could do it again, only make the arrows go slower the second time.

Very nice. When you get the chance, please take some closeup pics.

Nice..If I ever found someone who could recreate Striders bow and quiver with arrows I'd be willing to pay

I've got a few things in my kit I want to make and then one of my goals for this spring is to photo catalog all my garb and equipment. I'd like to put together a four season set of clothing, as well as an overall kit that goes from 'weekend hike' to 'weeklong,' 'out in the wilds for considerable time,' and 'war.'

Beautiful! Those arrows look gorgeous too! What are the specs of the bow? Draw weight, etc?

I'll be honest- I haven't the slightest idea. Gondian?

This should be a goal for all of us. Can't wait to see yours!

LOVE NOT THE BRIGHT SWORD FOR IT'S SHARPNESS OR THE ARROW FOR IT'S SWIFTNESS, BUT RATHER LOVE THAT WHICH THEY DEFEND

I figured that was the neighborhood of the measurements. Thanks.
