HOW BIG IS YOUR QUIVER?

HOW BIG IS YOUR QUIVER?

Post by RikJohnson »

Over the weekend, while watching _Troy_, I decided to make a larger quiver.
Yes, I have a couple standard leather quivers that hold 6 target points.
And i've made a couple 4" round quivers with a slightly larger capacity.
This one was about 6x2" and when done, held a dozen target points easily. I suppose I could stuff a couple more in were I to not care about the fletching...

So, back to the drawing-board. Something that will carry a dozen broadheads or larger bodkins.
Something that can be changed from back to hip. Something that I can add a pouch for a spearhead, a pouch for an extra bowstring, a small utility knife, the kitchen sink, you get the idea<g>.

Thus I thought I'd take a survey.
what are the dimensions of your quivers and how many arrows (target v broadheads) will it hold.
A photo (to give me ideas to copy) would be helpful.
Those who give up a little freedom in place of a little security will soon discover that they possess neither.

Haven't measured them, but the two quivers I have hold 24 and one dozen arrows respectively. I have an arrow bag that holds a dozen. I am making 'transport bags' to carry two dozen or more arrows each..regardless of tip.

They aren't huge...I'd say the mouth on them was around six inches or so, the base on one being closer to four and on the other more like three. Length...oh, 20, maybe 22 inches long at a guess.

My hunting quiver is a bow quiver that holds 8 arrows. 6 broadheads and 2 blunts.

The quiver I am having made is supposed to hold a dozen, though since I don't have it I can't say with any certainty this is correct or how broadheads vs points will effect the amount carried.
