Recreation of Otzi style pack
Packframe/canoe chair
And next time your complaining of a heavy pack. Just remember this guy, Laco Kulanga a record holding Nosicz with a record 207.5 kg load. That is 457.459 lbs btw.
Ever wonder what people used for packs in the past?

I am Ringulf the Dwarven Woodsman, I craft leather, wood, metal, and clay,
I throw axes, seaxes, and pointy sticks, And I fire my bow through the day.
Come be my ally, lift up your mead! We'll search out our foes and the Eagles we'll feed!

That is the frame and pack found with Otzi the Iceman. It kind of surprised people to find a frame backpack with an early Bronze Age man. Otzis' outfit, from clothing to gear, is very similar to Scythian and Native American types.

Similar problems produce similar solutions.
it's mainly the minor details that we worryabout.
Those who give up a little freedom in place of a little security will soon discover that they possess neither.

At least they gave me a reference.....but I kinda made it up, so not sure it can be considered a historic reference.

Yep you look at the pack frames in the link and you see a pretty similar trend. There is very little difference in the over all concept. Similar solutions for how to carry a load on a persons back appeared independently all over the place. Even when you get to modern materials the basic frame construction doesn't change much.RikJohnson wrote:Eledhwen wrote:That is the frame and pack found with Otzi the Iceman.
