A few pics from my last overnight.

Post by Ursus »

Hey all, thought Id share some photos of yesterdays camp.
Breakfast, bacon and oatmeal.
My new boots! Quite comfortable.
I was lucky enough to find a good log to shelter me. The night was fairly mild for mid January so I made no lean-to.

Home sweet home. The ground was to frozen to dig a proper fire pit so I had to content myself with removing as much undergrowth from the area as possible and of course keeping an ever watchful eye on the flame. I did end up propping up some rocks as heat reflectors later in the day.

I brought my small 65 lb hunting bow with me instead of my warbow. As much as I love the warbow it just isnt efficient in the woods much of the time.
Enjoying my pipe and pondering where to go next.

Great pics, looks like you had a great time. I have that same frying pan. Cooked up some bacon and bannock in it at the battle of New Orleans last weekend.

It was actually your post in the hard kit forum that lead me to it (thank you btw). This was its first outing. I'd carried skillets in the past but they were always to much weight. This one however is perfect, not heavy and doesn't take up much space. Needless to say I think it has found a permanent home in my haversack.

Great pics!

Great outing! Glad you got to escape for a bit. How much ground did you get to cover?

Probably close to two miles from my car. After I set camp I ranged for the better part of the day over an area covering roughly 1,500 acres.

As always, fantastic post! I love your whole set-up. For years now I've slowly put together garb for my persona, but I've never actually gotten to the point of actually going trekking and ranging. I need to change that this year.

Also, I love you leather haversack! I made one not so long ago out of suede, but it doesn't compare to good, sturdy, richly colored leather.
