How I always picture Aragorn
As a kid my brother bought me one of the Mithril brand miniatures of Aragorn. Looking at this mini for hours, taking in all the details, really formed a lot of my early opinion of how he should be dressed, and the kind of gear he would carry. As the years went by I gained access to different takes on the character, from artists drawings to the films, but I always come back to this mini. Recently a friend of mine painted it for me, so I thought I would post up some pictures of it. I love that they gave him a belt pouch and a blanket roll, easily enough carrying capacity for one of Aragorn's skill to last in the Wilds for quite some time.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

Nice! Funny thing is, in many ways, he actually quite resembles Viggo's version in PJ's films. I just wish they had given more of the characters in those movies pouches.

Lines up pretty well with a lot of our kits, actually!

Agreed, few items to carry but nothing too hindering

Looking at him before I posted this reminded me of the recent surcote/jerkin discussion. Your right Greg, I guess Tolkien's description inspired a lot of us in the same ways!

There are only so many ways you can shoot a bow, only so many ways you can swing a sword...and only so many ways you can dress a Ranger.
Now the sword shall come from under the cloak.

Very true. Earth tones and only so much gear before it becomes a hindrance.Greg wrote:There are only so many ways you can shoot a bow, only so many ways you can swing a sword...and only so many ways you can dress a Ranger.

Oooooh, I don't know about that... Some people have some VERY... um... "unique" ideas about how to dress a ranger, haha.

I love the last one, very nice for the southern Ranger but the top one... I was with you right up to the nightingale and boom!...right over the edge.

I often considered buying and painting this set....but never have got around to it.
In the darkest part of Sherwoods glade, in the thickest part of the wood, there are those who say, can still be seen, the ghost of Robin Hood.

I truly enjoy these figures and if I were not restraining myself due to all the irons I already have in the fire, I would be doing figures like these. (I used to have a huge collection and loved to paint and modify them. I am actually looking forward to starting some nearly 1"=1' Dwarf and Hobbit figures before Christmas due to family requests.
These are the ones that are more to my liking though...
