New Sword Suspension Straps

Forgot to post this when I did it, but I recently re-did the suspension straps for my Valiant Armoury Bristol sword, and I’m really happy with the new setup! The first time I did it I just used some simple modern buckles from Tandy, and while they looked okay enough, they still read very modern to my eye. Also, they were secured with modern pop-rivets, and the leather I used for the straps themselves was much too lightweight, which then stretched and started to slide along the scabbard with wear. (The original setup is in the last photo.)
This time around I used a much more robust weight of leather, which I distressed slightly for a worn look, and then finished them off with a couple buckles I had on hand from Aurora of Handmade Revolution, secured with much more period-correct hammered rivets. I absolutely LOVE these buckles! The whole setup is a lot more secure now and I am much happier with it!

Oh that's very nice work - the leather itself looks a nice step up as well!
