and ForgeCorvus is right, snow is a very rare thing indeed in some parts of the UK, but I have the unfortunate habit of deliberately going looking for the bad weather so it isn't that unheard of for me be stuck in my van waiting out a blizzard, usually in the Welsh or Scottish mountains, so far I haven't needed rescuing because I wouldn't go out of a journey like that without the right equipment but I don't expect mats/snow shovel/tire snow socks are on the top of the list of required emergency supplies down under
