On Ekets

I'm interested as to what we agree an Eket is and for that matter, is not (and I didn't want to derail Cevelentir's thread on their Custom piece)

So, what I know.
Its a Numenorean sidearm with a wide double edged blade between 12 and 18 inches long.

What I think its not
A leaf bladed short sword like some types Gladius or a Xiphos (Like the Barrow blades/Daggers of Westernesse are)
A Dirk, Seax, Bollock knife, Rondel dagger or Basilard

I was thinking maybe something like a cinquedea? Wide and elegant. I know its rennaisance era, but I think it could fit.

The Last Days of the Third age, a very well book based researched LoTR mod for mount and Blade, treats Ekets as short swords akin to Pippin's Movie shortsword. I have one, and I personally feel like it would be a good size for a sidearm for a spearmen, or as a backup weapon for a sword (Mine is 15 in, which is pretty much the right length.)

Since the cinquedea was itself inspired by blades from antiquity (particularly Greek blades), I feel like this would be an excellent comparison! I myself envision the eket as something akin to a Swiss degen, in that strange spot of “too long to really be a knife, too short to really be a sword”.
