Pants! Boots!
Pants! Boots!
After managing to snag a bunch of linen on sale recently I put together some basic drawstring pants I patterned off of some jeans I have that are slightly to wide for me. I dyed them a darker shade of brown than the fabric was originally and I'm pretty happy with the way that they've turned out. I did cheat in that the bulk of the sewing was done on a machine, however I hemmed the tops and bottoms by hand to give it a semi-authentic feel.
Thoughts and feed back appreciated as always!
I also took a stab at putting together some turnshoes with mixed results.
I followed the old 'wrap your foot in duct-tape' technique to put the pattern together, so they both fit pretty well. However I made the top flaps far too small and high up on the boot which resulted in a large gap where my socks were visible. I patched up this hole with the second flap that you see in the picture and I'm reasonably happy with the results, but I've definitely learned some lessons I can apply should I give these another shot in the future. Thoughts and feed back appreciated as always!

I am just always so impressed when someone sews their own boots.

Very nice work

Wow! This is fantastic work! Well done! It may have been an accident, but I absolutely love the final design of those boots! Looks like you're well on your way! Can't wait to see what's next!

I'll echo what everyone else has said - wow! Making your own footwear is no easy thing to tackle!
I don't think I would have even noticed the additional panel if you hadn't pointed it out; it fits the look of the shoe very well.
I don't know that I've seen turnshoes with a seam along the top before - any particular reason that you chose that seam placement?

Thanks guys!
The seam placement is where it is just because I was aiming for something along the lines of these in terms of design.Taurinor wrote: I don't know that I've seen turnshoes with a seam along the top before - any particular reason that you chose that seam placement?
