I absolutely believe that rocks would help, but I haven't personally tried them yet. Provided that they aren't porous and wet, rocks be positioned closer to the fire than a wooden screen and have much more mass, which should allow them to absorb and then radiate heat.
After a lot of mild wet weather, Fall has arrived late this year in the UK, normally by Halloween the tree's hardly have any leaves left

How does lockdown work for you guys? Are you allowed to leave for essentials?
yep, allowed to go shopping although all non-essential shops are closed, and were allowed to drive somewhere for exercise once a day, providing we don't drive for longer than half an hour, that cuts out all my favourite adventure places
